Twelve angry weeks

Easter weekend and things going well. I think I’m due an easy week soon. Have gone fast over medium distances since I returned from Morocco. I really notice a variation in performance from day to day.

Was in The Burren yesterday and will do some slow steady miles tomorrow

Morocco

6 am- getting up for breakfast at the Hotel Tiznit. Looking forward to the second to last day’s riding on my six day trip to Morocco. Nic and Dick have joined me and the Craic is good.

Days are full. Up at dawn, small breakfast then eat all day while cycling in between. Arrive back at accommodation then eat, sleep and rise to do it all again. Great!

Had my first Haman last night and my screams could be heard across Tiznit like the call to prayer.

This trip is fantastic and will put a lot of endurance miles in my legs provide I can recover from it from it.

Sitting on back seat of the Aer Lingus flight to Agadir. Drove to Dublin airport this morning with Nic and Dick. Ireland was shrouded in cloud. Enjoying the bright sunshine and the great view of the Portuguese coast.

Will be arriving at our accommodation late this evening and hopefully I can get my bike together tonight so that I can have a relaxed breakfast tomorrow

Sorry to repeat myself but weight loss is the key. The last couple of weeks have seen me get in less training. Thanks mainly to a mystery tour bus pub crawl around Co. Limerick that meant I had to spend a day in bed recovering and a weekend away in Manchester. I am sitting on the flight as I write this.

Next week I’ll get a couple of spins in before I head to Morocco for a weeks mountain biking

February flies by

Sneezing and sore all over after two long solo spins over the weekend. This month flew by and my weight loss has slowed thanks to a long weekend away from the bike.

Enjoying a few night trips up the mountain. Great fun on the single track at night

I plan two more weeks of steady millage before a trip to Morocco. Gotta get my mountain bike serviced and ready for the trip.

End of January

Off and running. Back on the bike 3-4 times per week and watching the diet closely. Weekly weigh-ins back on the Agenda.

Gym membership up this week, don’t think I’ll renew. This will make life difficult. Have some ideas though.

#1 Home circuit training twice per week

#2 Core work 10 minutes everyday

#3 Go for PBs every week

#4 Fitness test every 6 weeks.

Training starts here. The weather is wet but mild, the days are lengthening, it’s time to start training.

My weight climbed throughout December and has peaked at 97.7kg- at least I hope so.

Time to get out my diary and plan training. Unfortunately my injury makes it hard for me to know how well training went last year. I am not sure how much the core worked helped. My plans for this year is to increase the overall intensity of my training and to keep to stricter diet.

I will weigh myself weekly and take a photo every 3 weeks. I will take every fourth week as a recovery week initially and then maybe every third week as intensity increases.
