"Full or half?" The nice lady stood in front of the pig said. "Full. I'll have full". The lady prepares to hand Peter a full baguette filled with freshly carved pork from the hog roast put on by Kilmallock cycling club. I see a flash of indecision motivated by his disappointment at his performance on today's hub tour. Indecision turns to resolve, "no, I'll have a half". Looking pleased Peter turns to me and says, "did you see that?"
Peter reflected on the speed in which some of his club mates shot up today's climbs as he generously squirted mayonnaise on his demi-baguette.
Later the Strava stats showed that he was slower up Christ the King today than three years ago.
"Only nine weeks until Dartmoor", Peter splutters whilst sharing with me one of the cupcakes from the generous post-cycle spread laid on by the club.
Not being in training for Devon's famous sportive myself I head back up to the buffet table for a second round bringing back an apple for the Duckster.
"I won't thanks" says Peter "watching my weight Jac, watching my weight!".
2014 has started slowly. I am not pleased with my base milage. My weight has started its annual downward trend. I am keen to get to target weight early.
I have booked another Andulucian training camp in early April and plan to be 85kg by then.
Diet going well, this is easy
Diet not going well, this is delicious
Dreaming of a healthy diet
I have started riding with the Kilmallock cycling club. There are no shortage of people faster than me so keeping my Nee Years resolution has been a breeze
After last year’s successful ‘Everything Matters’ may I present my guiding words for 2014 …
My WordPress app continues to lose my blog posts and I am finding it hard to find the time to rewrite all my missing posts. Here is a month of bloggs in one go ….
The New Year is underway and the short dark days are taking a toll on my mood but not my appetite for Chocolates.
When I do get out on the bike I enjoy it but with such short windows of daylight to get out, trips are often shortened or cancelled.
Friday night I was working until 9pm and so was too tired to get up at 07:30 for a club spin and so headed out at 10am on my own to do 100km. Was going well until I went over the top of the main climb of the spin to find the road blocked with snow and ice. Had to walk a mile or so before getting back on the bike and free wheeling through the slush.
Today’s trip was cancelled because of a puncture. I was on my way to the mountain for a quick spin when the tyre on my car blew out.
Sorry for all the moaning but as you may have noticed when I am in a bad mood I post less blogs so this is a effort to blow away my writer’s apathy
2014 gets underway. Managed to get out on the mountain bike for a short spin.
Christmas was busy and I didn’t manage much cycling. If I recall correctly I managed to cycle 100Km on Jan 1st last year. First weigh in of the year today.
1) Get to target weight by April first
2) Match millage from last year
3) Beat times on spins from last year
